Burlington Nannies has  a new client based in Hampshire. They live on a large estate which compromises of the main house with a number of guest houses and additional buildings. The estate has a lot of staff that help run the properties and the land.

They are now looking for a Head Housekeeper. The current employee has been with the family for 8 years and has been very happy in the role. You will be overseeing a team of five housekeepers who are well established. This isn’t a role where you will be sat in an office and delegate. You will very much be part of the team and lead by example.

This is a 7 day a week operation and everyone works five days a week. You will be responsible for the rotas, and it is important that you make it fair for everyone as you will all be expected to cover your fair share of weekends. Daily hours will be 8am through to 5pm but you will be required to be flexible.

Duties will include.

• Cleaning all properties on the estate. The main house and guest cottages
• All aspects of household duties, cleaning, polishing and dusting
• Cleaning carpets and upholstery
• Looking after antiques, silver and artwork.
• Liaising with contractors and maintenance people
• Changing beds and wardrobe management
• Diary management
• Feeding cats and dogs and occasionally walking the dogs. Taking them to the vets and assisting with medication when needed.
• Assisting with dinner parties, preparing the table and serving guests
• Packing and unpacking
• Updating the inventory
• Preparing housekeeping work rotas on a weekly/monthly basis

You will report to the Estate Manager and often liaise with the PA. You will also work closely with the Butler and often have to share duties when one of you is off duty. A full time laundress is employed but yet again you and the other housekeepers will assist when they are off duty.

You must be very computer literate and confident using an apple mac. An inventory system has been designed for all members of staff to use, which you will be shown.

It is essential that you can work in a team environment and have previous experience running a team of people. Excellent communication skills along with being able to organise and be proactive are key for this role. You must have a can do attitude and pull your

You must be a confident driver and have driven recently. A car will be provided.  The family ideally want someone who has worked in a similar role.

This is a nice environment to work in. Everyone is treated with respect and many of the staff have been there for over 15 years with some having worked for the family up to 30 years.
